Anna Ferrer & Marco Mezquida
Anna Ferrer, voice
Marco Mezquidea, piano.
We can’t think of a better way to start the festival than with this magnificent duet of aces, perfectly balanced, and here we are not only referring to the genre but also to the contribution of talent.
On stage we will see two great artists but also two friends, thanks to the complicity of being born in the same city (Maó, Menorca) and their shared passion for music and creation. Mezquida and Ferrer bring their musical universes together in this concert and let themselves be carried away by surprise, delivery and risk.
The pianist Marco Mezquida (Maó, 1987) is today one of the artists with the greatest international projection that Menorca has given to the world, he has filled auditoriums and festivals in cities on four continents, from Tokyo to New York, Berlin or Paris. At the age of 36, he has already recorded 25 albums as a leader and more than 60 as part of other projects, and in recent years he performs an average of 90 to 100 concerts a year, of which more than a third are international. He has received numerous and prestigious awards such as the BMW Welt Jazz Award 2022 or the City of Barcelona Award 2019. The list of great musicians with whom he has worked, both in recordings and live, is very long (Silvia Pérez Cruz, Salvador Sobral, Andrea Motis, Noa, Lee Konitz, Perico Sambeat… ).
The singer and composer Anna Ferrer (Maó, 1993) discovered that she wanted to turn her life over to music when she was only 3 years old. Anna looks for her inspiration in the traditional legacy but more than folklore, she likes to define herself as an “old fetishist”, rescuing and reinterpreting tradition to incorporate it into her creations. He started his solo professional career in 2017, with the publication of his first album, ‘Tellúria’, a heartfelt tribute to his native land, Menorca. In 2019 he published his second work, ‘Krönia’, where he elevated folklore to a more universal sound, making inroads into electronic bases. In addition to her personal commitment, Anna collaborates with other musicians and is a soloist in several collective projects, such as ‘Trencadís’ with the Orquestra de Música d’Arrel de Catalunya
