Decision and Courage is the title of the third album by the octet The Bop Collective led by the young Barcelona saxophonist Irene Reig. A call to make your heart stronger in the face of difficulties and act with conviction and firmness. To believe in one’s own ideals and objectives and carry them out.

The compositions and arrangements of saxophonist Irene Reig for The Bop Collective They pivot between the tradition of Jazz and current music. A bet that, despite preserving the essence of melodies rooted in song, explores the harmony and meter of many different branches in the world of music.

The eight musicians have a strong relationship with the jazz tradition and have all grown musically hand in hand with Broadway standards, Swing and Hard-bop. With this set they show a new vision of this music based on the combination of these influences and adding new rhythms and modulations. The repertoire is made up of original music and arrangements with melodies very close to the song.

They won the public award at the prestigious Dutch Jazz Competition, and since then, the group has never stopped growing through stages and festivals such as the Bimhuis (Amsterdam), Jamboree (Barcelona), Nueva Jazz Cava (Terrace), Grachtenfestival (Amsterdam), Amersfoort Jazz Festival, Paradox (Tilburg) or the Jazzing Festival.
